You can now syndicate both news (frontpage) and the ten most recent stories posted via an rss feed. Both feeds have been validated (by two different validators, because I don't know which is the correct one to use). Still, some news readers are buggy with html in the content, just to note.
You can also receive the feed directly to your Livejournal friends list. Livejournal is a popular webjournal/blogging tool, and I know many people use it, especially for the friends list option.
Be warned, when first using the LJ feed for the most recent stories, it will dump all ten of the most current into your page. This isn't spamming, but simply how LJ is reading the rss file. You can read more about this at their FAQ: http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=137
